FROM WHAT I REMEMBER, 2022

I’m driving home from the party.
In ten years’ time, I most probably won’t remember how I feel right now.

That feeling will pass, fade away, disappear.
To hold on, we capture images.
What we capture is decided by the view, knowledge and feeling of that specific moment.

This series of paintings invites you to a party.
How the party will be experienced will be different for each of the attendees. The person who captures the images might decide what will be remembered.

The series of paintings is based on found pictures of a family party.
This photo archive acts as a base for a new interpretation on canvas. With this movement, the boundaries of time and nostalgia are questioned and the viewer is presented a new reality. What details will be lost over the years and what impressions will be etched in memory?
